‘Manspacing: House of Boys’
Northcote, Melbourne
A new family home on a tight east west orientated site, this house borrows from educational architecture principals to accommodate the needs of housing 4 rambunctious boys. Subtle shifts in angle in the plan open up spaces for penetration of light, as well as creating multiple intimate nooks, where family members can find their own space within the home. Windows and outdoor areas are carefully tailored to specific views and to maximize natural cross ventilation. This is manifest in the spectacular double height entry foyer, containing a large fan and auto openable windows which act to naturally ventilate both levels of the house.
